Tottenham join Aston Villa & Juventus in race for unsettled PSG forward

Paris Saint-Germain have informed out-of-sorts forward Randal Kolo Muani that he’s free to leave the club this month.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest team to join the hunt for the 26-year-old.

Loan deal on the table

Luis Enrique has lost patience with Kolo Muani, ruling him out of his plans for the rest of the season.

The perennial Ligue 1 champions have put their overpaid flop up for sale but are also open to sanctioning his temporary departure.

However, the Frenchman’s eye-watering wages, soaring north of £160,000 per week, are a substantial stumbling block.

As such, any loan agreement would require Les Parisiens to pay a significant percentage of his prohibitive salary.

Deals of this magnitude aren’t typical for winter transfer sessions, but the circumstances surrounding Kolo Muani make it a potential exception to the rule.

Multiple options

Spurs’ fellow Premier League rivals Aston Villa have recently expressed interest in the ex-Eintracht Frankfurt forward.

PSG shelled out £76.4million to the Bundesliga outfit to land Kolo Muani in the summer of 2023.

Despite his torrid time at the Parc des Princes, they still hope to recoup at least £50m on top of a potential loan fee.

Villa and Tottenham would only be willing to allocate such figures after evaluating Kolo Muani on the field.

The same goes for Juventus.

Keen to add another reliable attacking option to Thiago Motta’s misfiring squad, they’ve earmarked the French ace as a potential cost-effective signing.

Tottenham best positioned

Cash flow has never been an issue for the North London powerhouse under Daniel Levy’s regime.

Since Spurs are under no financial constraints, they can afford Kolo Muani’s substantial transfer fee – unlike Villa and Juventus.

Ange Postecoglou is fighting tooth and nail to turn his team’s miserable fortunes in the Premier League around.

Despite Tottenham’s abysmal league campaign, they’re ready to back their manager in the transfer window.

Kolo Muani could be one of several winter arrivals as Postecoglou bids to revive Spurs’ turbulent season.
