Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is poised to return to Ligue 1 as he has agreed a deal with Marseille.
The 36-year-old will pen a two-year contract with the French club, per journalist Santi Aouna.
Aubameyang left Marseille to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah last summer on a two-year deal. He struck 17 goals in 32 league games but terminated his deal after just one season with the Saudi club in a surprising transfer news.
The Gabon international had interest from several clubs, including Al-Ettifaq, but he decided to return to Marseille.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side are reshaping their squad for the 2025-26 season after qualifying for the Champions League by finishing second in Ligue 1.
They are poised to sign Aubameyang, who will compete with Amine Gouiri for the centre-forward position.
The Gabonese striker had impressed during his first spell at Marseille. He struck 30 goals and provided 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions in 2023-24.
Aubameyang started his career at AC Milan, though he never played a competitive match for the Italian outfit and left to join Saint-Etienne in 2011.
After an excellent spell at Borussia Dortmund, he landed a £56 million move to Arsenal in January 2018.
He lifted the FA Cup trophy with the Gunners in 2020 and finished as the Premier League’s joint-top goalscorer in 2018-19.
The 36-year-old bagged 92 goals and 21 assists in 163 total appearances during his four-and-half years time in North London.
Aubameyang went on to play for Barcelona and Chelsea but failed to make the same impact for the two European giants.
