Paris Saint-Germain’s road to the Champions League final

Paris Saint-Germain secured a place in the Champions League final after beating Arsenal in the final four. This is not a new football news, but PSG’s fans will not tire hearing this all the time.

The Parisians took control of the semi-final tie by coming away with a 1-0 success from the Emirates Stadium.

Ousmane Dembele turned out to be the hero for PSG in the  away leg, with the 27-year-old scoring the only goal of the match in the fourth minute.

But the Gunners rattled Luis Enrique’s side with an explosive start at the Parc des Princes. Only Gianluigi Donnarumma’s brilliance between the sticks kept the visitors at bay.

A 17th-minute goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia settled the hosts’ nerves, with the Georgian hitting the far post with a beautiful curling shot.

Vintinha could have put the game to bed after the break when PSG were awarded a penalty, but he failed to beat David Raya in goal.

However, the French giants soon struck their second on the night when Achraf Hakimi calmly slotted into the bottom-right corner after being set up by Dembele.

Bukayo Saka pulled one back and threatened to add another, but PSG ultimately clinched their place in the showpiece event in Munich.

After an unconvincing 15th-place finish in the league phase, Enrique’s men grew into the tournament as they knocked out some of the best teams.

The Ligue 1 champions ended Liverpool’s European journey by beating them on penalties after the two legs of the round of 16 ended 1-1.

Aston Villa also offered a huge challenge to the Parisians, but they kept their nerves to seal a 5-4 aggregate win in the quarter-final.
