Paris Saint-Germain meet Barcelona in the quarter final – Champions League preview

Paris Saint-Germain cruised past Real Sociedad to a 4-1 win on aggregate in the Champions League last 16 after Kylian Mbappe scored three goals over the two games.

The French superstar smashed goals in both halves of the Anoeta Stadium encounter last week before Mikel Merino pulled one back late in the game.

But that  served only a small consolation for the Spanish side as PSG held out for a comfortable 4-1 aggregate success

The Ligue 1 giants will now face Barcelona who outclassed Napoli 3-1 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys to secure a 4-2 aggregate success.

Two early goals from Fermin Lopez and Joao Cancelo put the Catalans in control but Amir Rrahmani pulled one back before the interval.

However, Robert Lewandowski added a late third to ensure Barca’s place in the quarter finals.

For football fans, the news is that they can watch all the Champions League matches live on TV.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona prediction

PSG have been trying to win the Champions League over the years but the coveted trophy has always eluded them. Can they win the prestigious tournament this year?

With teams like Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Arsenal still alive, the Parisians’ European prospects don’t look very good.

However, they are expected to prevail against Barcelona who have had an underwhelming 2023-24 campaign so far.

The Catalans are facing financial issues as well as uncertainty over their on-field future, with Xavi set to leave as head coach in the summer.

Although PSG also have their issues, the presence of Kylian Mbappe in their team is expected to be a deciding factor for them.

When are the Champions League quarter finals, semi finals and final?

– Quarter finals: April 9/10 and 16/17

– Semi finals: April 30/May 1 and May 7/8

– Final: June 1
