Nantes vs Paris Saint-Germain – Prediction, Team News, Line-ups

Paris Saint-Germain will begin their 2025-26 season against Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday night.

The Parisians will be brimming with confidence, having defeated Tottenham Hotspur on penalties to clinch the Uefa Super Cup earlier this week.

Match Preview

PSG finally broke their Champions League curse last season, as they thrashed Inter Milan 5-0 to win the prestigious European competition for the first time in their history.

They also added the three other domestic trophies to become the first French club to win the continental quadruple.

Luis Enrique’s side got the new season underway with an excellent win over Tottenham in the Super Cup.

They were on the brink of defeat as Spurs led the game 2-0 after 84 minutes.

But Lee Kang-in reduced the deficit at that stage with a brilliant strike from 20 yards.

Then in the 94th minute, substitute Goncalo Ramos headed in an equaliser that took the game to penalties.

Vitinha missed PSG’s opening spot-kick but Ramos, Ousmane Dembele, Kang-in and Nuno Mendes all converted their penalties to lead them to victory.

On the other hand, Nantes barely avoided relegation last season, finishing just three points above the drop zone.

The club have since replaced manager Antoine Kombouare with Luis Castro, who boasts a lot of experience in management.

Team News

PSG will be missing Joao Neves as he must serve his suspension due to the red card he picked up in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma very likely to leave the Parc des Princes, new recruit Lucas Chevalier is set to start between the sticks.

As for Nantes, they are set to be without striker Matthis Abline who is being linked with a move to the Premier League this summer. New arrival Mayckel Lahdo is struggling with a thigh injury and is expected to sit out Sunday’s match as well.

Nantes vs Paris Saint-Germain potential line-ups

Nantes: Lopes; Amian, Awaziem, Radakovic, Cozza; Kwon, Hong, Lepenant, Benhattab, Leroux; Mohamed

Paris Saint-Germain: Chevalier: Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes; Lee, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Nantes vs Paris Saint-Germain prediction

Nantes have endured a difficult pre-season, losing each of their final four friendlies. The Canaries will be playing Sunday’s fixture at home but given the squad quality of PSG, a defeat appears to be a very likely result.

Nantes 0-2 Paris Saint-Germain
