Best Ligue 1 Games To Watch In March

It’s always a breath of fresh air when the Ligue 1 title race is far from a foregone conclusion.

Paris Saint-Germain have dominated the league for over a decade and also came into this campaign on the back of four consecutive title wins.

Only Lille have managed to stop Les Parisiens from lifting the title over the past eight years. But for the first time in a while, the title race looks like it’ll go down to the wire.

The race for Champions League football in Ligue 1 has also been enthralling, with at least five teams battling it out for the qualification spot.

There are a few high-profile fixtures in March that are likely to shake up the Ligue 1 standings as we approach the twilight of the campaign.

We’ve taken the opportunity to explore some of those promising fixtures while offering fans several live-streaming options so they don’t miss out on the action.

Olympique Marseille vs Olympique Lyon – March 3

One of the most eye-catching fixtures in the March calendar is the Choc des Olympiques, which will see fierce rivals Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon lock horns at Orange Velodrome.

Third-place Lyon will be keen to return to winning ways after their stunning 13-game winning streak was abruptly halted by RC Strasbourg last time out.

Marseille’s recent form will boost Lyon’s confidence ahead of the game, with Les Olympiens winless in their last four league games (D2, L2).

The nine-time Ligue 1 winners have also won just one of their last six games in all competitions (D2, L3).

Paris Saint-Germain vs AS Monaco – March 6

PSG and Monaco have delivered a handful of action-packed duels already this season, but there’s one more battle scheduled for March 6, and this one could impact the title race.

Monaco are one of only three teams to have beaten PSG in the league this season, claiming a narrow 1-0 win at Stade Louis II despite playing the final 10 minutes plus stoppage time with ten men.

PSG responded by eliminating Monaco from the Champions League with a 5-4 aggregate victory.

Monaco are the only club to have recorded more than 40 wins against PSG (49) and will get a chance to avenge their elimination from the Champions League.

Doing so at Parc des Princes would be the cherry on top as they’ve only managed just two wins on PSG’s turf since the capital club’s Qatari takeover.

Stade Rennais vs Lille – March 15

Stade Rennais and Lille have blown hot and cold this season, but that would hardly influence proceedings when they lock horns at Roazhon Park on March 15.

Both sides are among the five clubs eyeing the Champions League qualification spot currently occupied by Marseille and are just three points adrift of Les Olympiens (37 points each) at the time of writing.

There are always plenty of fireworks whenever Rennes and Lille go head-to-head. Just one of their last nine meetings have failed to produce two or more goals.

Rennes claimed a 2-0 win the last time these two sides faced off, although Lille have been the more dominant side in this fixture. Les Dogues had previously gone 12 games without defeat (W6, D6).

Olympique Marseille vs Lille – March 22

After taking on Rennes, Lille will visit Orange Velodrome for yet another top-four six-pointer as they face Marseille. These two games could make or break their Champions League hopes.

But on the bright side, they also have a fine record against Marseille. Ethan Mbappe’s 10th-minute goal earned Lille a narrow 1-0 win against Marseille in their most recent meeting.

That victory stretched their unbeaten run against the nine-time French champions to six games (W3, D3).

You’d have to go back to September 2022 for the last time Marseille beat Lille, but that turned out to be their only victory across the last 11 league fixtures between both sides.
